Gifts from the sea for Christmas!
The lowly mussel is a good reminder
We are seekers more than we are finders
They live in a quite dangerous zone
Are never safe, though always at home
Like us their lives hang on some threads
But the threads are strong and all the dread
Of the next disastrous wave
Can be survived if you are brave…
A little heat can open them
You’ll find delicious things within
A taste that can joyfully sustain you
And that is otherwise nutritious too
And you will find that they will gladly share
If you care to dare the coming wave
And take some time and care
to find and save them.
This is a beautiful poem! Is it part of a series or a larger project of poetry discussing the sea? Did you write it? Thank you for sharing – both poem and artwork are delightful!
